
The winners of the 2009 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Awards have been announced. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the recipients of the winemaker’s eight annual awards comprise of a varied group including, four Parsons The New School of Design graduates, a former Goldman Sachs investment banker, an ex-Washington Post columnist and a former soccer player.
The womenswear category winners are Lyn Devon, Matthew Ames, Cushnie et Ochs by Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs (pictured above), and Ohne Titel by Alexa Adams and Flora Gill. The honor in designs for menswear was given to Corpus by Jerrod Cornish and Keith Richardson, and jeweler Monique Péan received the prize in the accessories group.
Each emerging label received a $25,000 grant to help them showcase their collections at New York Fashion Week in February. A marketing rep for The Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation hopes that their support will give the designers the opportunity to bring a new level of talent and excitement to the fashion community, especially in the current economic climate.
Previous designers whose careers were launched by Ecco Domani include Zac Posen, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Thakoon, Alexander Wang and Rodarte.
